I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

I Timothy 2:1-6

When you pray, go into your inner room, shut your door, and pray to your Father,  who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Matthew 6:5-6

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. James 4:8

Why?

We at PrayerLincs believe that one of the greatest hindrances for having a dynamic prayer life is our lack of focus which is directly related to how we communicate and organize our prayers.

It does not have to be this way! By simply changing a few things our very disorganized prayer life can become focused and consistent. All you need are a few tools to improve your prayer life tremendously! We cannot make you want to pray but if you desire a more dynamic prayer life, PrayerLincs can make it very easy to have your prayers in one place and make it much easier to fit into your hectic daily schedule.

Why Should I Have a Prayer List?

You should have a private space for your prayers and a time to pray each day. Most people keep prayer requests in their minds and recall them by memory. But our memories are short and to take control of  your prayer life you need to have a place for them. Others may keep a manual list but it is difficult to have it always with you! with You also need a reminder to pray. Our lives are busy and everyone needs a gentle reminder.

What Should I Pray For?

Everything! Philippians 4:6 says “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God!

Here are three broad categories that cover most of our prayers :

Spiritual Needs and Personal Character

Physical needs

Life circumstances.

We often make prayer too complex. Remember Jesus said our Father knows our needs before we ask Him. But here are some quick suggestions that might help you pray:

Spiritual Needs and Personal Character:

A good place to start is how Jesus told us to pray. It is in Matthew 6:9-13 and is known as the Lord’s Prayer.

“Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be your name,

Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven,

Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”

We most often repeat this prayer by memorization. But Jesus said “Pray like this.” So we believe he meant for us to use it as an outline for how to pray and we should have the liberty to personalize it by putting in our own name or whoever we are praying for.

For example you could pray for your friend Tom as follows:

Our Father in Heaven, may Tom stand in awe of You and revere your name,

May your kingdom come and your will be done in his life as you have purposed and planned it

   in heaven,

Please give him this day his daily bread. May you take care of him and teach him your ways.       Forgive Tom when he fails you, as I forgive his faults.

Lead him not into temptation, for we all are weak and need your protection,

And deliver him from the evil when it comes his way.

Do the same with the 100th Psalm and the 23rd Psalm or Philippians 1:9-11 or other great verses.

Personalize and put them in a prayer for you and others! Make them your own prayer from your heart to the heart of God!

 Physical Needs:

Lift up all your physical needs to God! You may hear that too many of our prayer requests are for our health. Lungs, heart and kidneys. But look at Jesus and all the people who came to him to heal their bodies! He did not turn anyone away. God wants us to take everything before Him!

     Life’s Circumstances:

Pray that you, or whoever you are praying for, would not only know right from wrong but choose right over wrong!

We do not know what may come our way next but we can determine and ask God for the wisdom, strength and character to make the right choices!
